THE CRISES
The Impact of War on Education in Sudan
Education systems are collapsing, creating a lost generation. Without intervention, millions of young people face a future without skills, opportunity, or hope.
Thousands of schools are no longer functioning. More than 3,000 schools are being used as shelters for displaced families, while many others have been damaged or destroyed by fighting.
The war has displaced over 12 million people, including more than 5 million children. Many students and teachers have been forced to leave their homes, cutting them off from education systems.
Only about 28% of Sudan’s population has internet access, leaving millions of young people without the digital skills needed for modern education and employment.
Women, girls, separated children, and marginalized communities face the greatest risk. With over 30 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, the collapse of education deepens inequality and long-term poverty.
